2. Interesting article. I found it rather fascinating at first. But as I read on, the methodology just seems too far away from perfection. Not scientifically strict exactly, plus, the definition of success is ... kinda snobbish to me. What Makes Us Happy?
3. random quotes that I sort of liked (from Criminal Minds :-): la familia es todo Je suis toujours ici pour toi, mon cher. Beauty can cover a multitude of sins, but underneath we all look exactly the same.
4. After crying a few times listening to this song ..... I am
Free at last. I swear to life that no one can ever hurt me any more.
I still love the world, but only in a condescending way. What it can offer are too fake or too transient for me. Sure I will give to it everything that I can give. It's just that, my darlings, you don't deserve all my heart. Never.
Pardon, goddess of the night, Those that slew thy virgin knight, For the which with songs of woe Round about her tomb they go. Midnight, assist our moan. Help us to sigh and groan Heavily, heavily. Graves, yawn and yield your dead, Till death be utterèd, Heavily, heavily.
# O Night # Bring to # The Earth # The enchanting calm # Of your mystery # The shadow which follows you # Is so sweet # It is such a sweet concert # Your voices chanting hope # You power is so great # Transforming all into a dream
# O Night # O leave still # To the Earth # The enchanting calm # Of your mystery # The shadow which follows you # Is so sweet # Is there anything more beautiful # Than a dream? # Is there any truth # Sweeter # Than hope?
[Morhange's eyes followed my tempo, and in them, I suddenly read many things: Pride and the joy of my forgiveness, but also something quite new to him, a feeling of gratitude.]
A friend sent me this cool music website. Apparently you can find any type of music that you like in the radio section, and the site will keep its memory about your choice to pick ones similar to your likings. I have heard of website like this but always got confused as to where to start for "favorite" and simply stopped after a few attempts. The following specific site of this station is classical music that are close in style to French composer Maurice Ravel. Personally I find the music there very pleasant and soothing. And the cool thing is, when you hear a familiar melody but don't know what it really is, you can just go check it, as well as additional detailed information about the composer on the site!
--------------------------- OK The following is added 02/19/09. I made some apple cookies for the birthday of a friend's daughter. I admit sincerely that they are not so good looking, but according to my friend and her daughter, they taste all right! :)
I like this wrapping paper a lot -
Sometimes looks ain't everything.... and I didn't really PICK these representatives!
I was playing "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2008" on background the other day and again liked the music a lot. So I did a little research, and surprisingly was truly touched by one of the song "Human" (The Killers). When I say I am "touched" by a song, it's always the lyrics that does the trick. Yes even though I don't usually listen to contemporary music, this one is definitely an exception that enchants me. As I mentioned, I've been thinking about the possibility of becoming religious. Religion is tempting, I admit, especially to someone like me who lives in a hell that nobody else can see (to some extent everyone is like that I guess), for it's reassuring, comforting. But even though I realize that I can not approach the question from a scientific perspective, pure "spirit" wise I still have two big questions. One is about the fairness of the creator, the other concerns human pride (I know they call it a sin, whatever). This song, albeit the author(s) might be thinking of being independent, rebellious in a social context, I think one can apply it to other scenarios as well. I like this verse best: bold yet very powerful -
"Pay my respects to grace and virtue send my condolences to good give my regards to soul and romance they always did the best they could and so long to devotion, you taught me everything I know wave good bye, wish me well"
The Killers Human Lyrics:
I did my best to notice when the call came down the line up to the platform of surrender I was brought but I was kind and sometimes I get nervous when I see an open door
Close your eyes, clear your heart
Cut the cord are we human or are we dancer my sign is vital, my hands are cold and I´m on my knees looking for the answer are we human or are we dancer
Pay my respects to grace and virtue send my condolences to good give my regards to soul and romance they always did the best they could and so long to devotion, you taught me everything I know wave good bye, wish me well
You gotta let me go are we human or are we dancer my sign is vital, my hands are cold and I´m on my knees looking for the answer are we human or are we dancer
Will your system be all right when you dream of home tonight there is no message we're receiving let me know is your heart still beating
Are we human or are we dancer my sign is vital, my hands are cold and I´m on my knees looking for the answer
You´ve gotta let me know are we human or are we dancer my sign is vital, my hands are cold and I´m on my knees looking for the answer are we human or are we dancer
I know what my problem is - I always love the impossible. Whether or not I love because they're impossible, my fear or pride makes them impossible anyway... Oh well. But I do wish all the "impossible" to be as beautiful and good as they could possibly be, and to be appreciated, cherished by the world.
Super trouper beams are gonna blind me But I wont feel blue Like I always do cause somewhere in the crowd theres you
I was sick and tired of everything When I called you last night from glasgow All I do is eat and sleep and sing Wishing every show was the last show (wishing every show was the last show) So imagine I was glad to hear youre coming (glad to hear youre coming) Suddenly I feel all right (and suddenly its gonna be) And its gonna be so different When Im on the stage tonight
Tonight the Super trouper lights are gonna find me Shining like the sun (sup-p-per troup-p-per) Smiling, having fun (sup-p-per troup-p-per) Feeling like a number one Tonight the Super trouper beams are gonna blind me But I wont feel blue (sup-p-per troup-p-per) Like I always do (sup-p-per troup-p-per) cause somewhere in the crowd theres you
Facing twenty thousand of your friends How can anyone be so lonely Part of a success that never ends Still Im thinking about you only (still Im thinking about you only) There are moments when I think Im going crazy (think Im going crazy) But its gonna be alright (youll soon be changing everything) Everything will be so different When Im on the stage tonight
Tonight the Super trouper lights are gonna find me Shining like the sun (sup-p-per troup-p-per) Smiling, having fun (sup-p-per troup-p-per) Feeling like a number one Tonight the Super trouper beams are gonna blind me But I wont feel blue (sup-p-per troup-p-per) Like I always do (sup-p-per troup-p-per) cause somewhere in the crowd theres you
So Ill be there when you arrive The sight of you will prove to me Im still alive And when you take me in your arms And hold me tight I know its gonna mean so much tonight
Tonight the Super trouper lights are gonna find me Shining like the sun (sup-p-per troup-p-per) Smiling, having fun (sup-p-per troup-p-per) Feeling like a number one Tonight the Super trouper beams are gonna blind me But I wont feel blue (sup-p-per troup-p-per) Like I always do (sup-p-per troup-p-per) cause somewhere in the crowd theres you
ABBA The Winner Takes All
I don’t wanna talk About the things we’ve gone through Though it’s hurting me Now it’s history I’ve played all my cards And that’s what you’ve done too Nothing more to say No more ace to play
The winner takes it all The loser standing small Beside the victory That’s her destiny
I was in your arms Thinking I belonged there I figured it made sense Building me a fence Building me a home Thinking I’d be strong there But I was a fool Playing by the rules
The gods may throw a dice Their minds as cold as ice And someone way down here Loses someone dear The winner takes it all The loser has to fall It’s simple and it’s plain Why should I complain.
But tell me does she kiss Like I used to kiss you? Does it feel the same When she calls your name? Somewhere deep inside You must know I miss you But what can I say Rules must be obeyed
The judges will decide The likes of me abide Spectators of the show Always staying low The game is on again A lover or a friend A big thing or a small The winner takes it all
I don’t wanna talk If it makes you feel sad And I understand You’ve come to shake my hand I apologize If it makes you feel bad Seeing me so tense No self-confidence But you see The winner takes it all The winner takes it all......
ABBA Chiquitita
Chiquitita, tell me whats wrong Youre enchained by your own sorrow In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow How I hate to see you like this There is no way you can deny it I can see that youre oh so sad, so quiet
Chiquitita, tell me the truth Im a shoulder you can cry on Your best friend, Im the one you must rely on You were always sure of yourself Now I see youve broken a feather I hope we can patch it up together
Chiquitita, you and I know How the heartaches come and they go and the scars theyre leaving Youll be dancing once again and the pain will end You will have no time for grieving Chiquitita, you and I cry But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you Let me hear you sing once more like you did before Sing a new song, chiquitita Try once more like you did before Sing a new song, chiquitita
So the walls came tumbling down And your loves a blown out candle All is gone and it seems too hard to handle Chiquitita, tell me the truth There is no way you can deny it I see that youre oh so sad, so quiet
Chiquitita, you and I know How the heartaches come and they go and the scars theyre leaving Youll be dancing once again and the pain will end You will have no time for grieving Chiquitita, you and I cry But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you Let me hear you sing once more like you did before Sing a new song, chiquitita Try once more like you did before Sing a new song, chiquitita Try once more like you did before Sing a new song, chiquitita

Amanda Seyfried Thank you for the music (from the movie, to me this version is better than the original :)
Im nothing special, in fact Im a bit of a bore If I tell a joke, youve probably heard it before But I have a talent, a wonderful thing cause everyone listens when I start to sing Im so grateful and proud All I want is to sing it out loud
So I say Thank you for the music, the songs Im singing Thanks for all the joy theyre bringing Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty What would life be? Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the music For giving it to me
Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk She says I began to sing long before I could talk And Ive often wondered, how did it all start? Who found out that nothing can capture a heart Like a melody can? Well, whoever it was, Im a fan
So I say Thank you for the music, the songs Im singing Thanks for all the joy theyre bringing Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty What would life be? Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the music For giving it to me
Ive been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair I wanna sing it out to everybody What a joy, what a life, what a chance!
So I say Thank you for the music, the songs Im singing Thanks for all the joy theyre bringing Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty What would life be? Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the music For giving it to me
